Journalism

Magazines & Journals

I am a regular contributor to several magazines and journals for news, articles and long form journalism.

For over forty years I have been writing for magazines and specialist journals both in the United Kingdom and abroad. I have developed a specialism in maritime/naval and aviation subjects, but I am also interested in transport, history, countryside issues, cars, trucks and railways.

Books

My first book was published over 20 years ago, it was on Britain's first nuclear powered attack submarine, HMS Dreadnought. Since then numerous other titles, mostly on naval subjects, have followed.

In recent years I have started writing specialist bookazines on naval and aviation subjects as diverse as US battleships, the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane and the history of the US Coast Guard.

Broadcasting

Broadcasting

Since turning professional in 1998, I have worked across the South East at a range of radio stations. From TLR in Thanet to CTFM in Canterbury, KFM in Tonbridge and Channel Travel Radio at the Eurotunnel complex at Folkestone.

I have also worked as a travel presenter at Trafficlink in London and as a weekend breakfast show host on the pan European Globecast Radio where we covered the world of global motorsport news.

Establishing a radio station
in my home town

After a stint at seven separate KMFM radio stations across Kent, I chose to devote my attention to completing the dream of establishing a radio station in my home town of Maidstone, a project I had been working on for 15 years.

The dream came to fruition in 2003 with the creation of CTRfm where I presented different radio shows until CTRfm was sold to KMFM who re-employed me.

Presenting and training
at Academy FM

In 2010 I started working for Academy FM Thanet in Ramsgate where I still present a weekly radio show and also teach people of all ages communication and confidence skills through radio broadcasting.

My most recent appointment -
Radio Victory

In 2025 I also started working with Radio Victory in Portsmouth.

I've known Patrick Boniface (in the radio world we refer to him as ‘Paddy Foster’), for more than 30 years. Over that time, I've watched Patrick build an outstanding career in broadcasting and communications.

Awards

In 2023 I was delighted to secure the Silver Award for Best Male presenter at that year's Community Radio Awards held in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

I was surprised to achieve this accolade at my very first entry into the competition. I have subsequently been nominated in the same category in the following years.
